ANIMALS
In order to enhance your study of Spanish words relating to animals you may use the following exercises. Most of them can be completed on-line. For some of the exercises you first print-out the page and then complete the exercise using a pen or pencil.
Please note that some of the exercise use Java and Javascript. These exercises may require you to have a more current (but not the most current) version of Netscape or Internet Explorer. Some exercises unfortunately only work on browser with Internet Explorer. In most cases an alternative exercise has been provided. If you are not certain which browser or version is on your computer please utilize the following link and return to this page using your back button or arrow (test my computer). Because Javascript can be a tricky language you may upon opening a page receive an error message and the option to "continue or not to continue running scripts on the page". In this case always choose the options to continue running scripts and the program will work properly. Some exercises are located on another website called "Quia". Any activity on the Quia website will be designate by a "Q" following the hyperlink. In this case you would after completing the exercise use your back button or arrow to return to this website.

Interactive - actually more of an quiz, however this exercise has
"flashcard-like" functionality in that you can switch between testing yourself

Virtual - These flashcards look as if they are on 5" x 8" index
cards. Like a real flashcard you just test yourself without writing anything
(as you must do above). Once again you may "discard" words that you get

Animal Sounds
In this exercise you click on a button to hear an animal sound. Choosing from a list
you type in the correct name Spanish name of the animal. There are 21 animals.
(On the 1st page you will receive 2 javascript error warnings. In both
instances click the "yes" option to continue running scripts on the page and you

Picture Quiz
Version 1: In this quiz each question is a picture of an animal. You have to type in
the correct Spanish translation. At the end of the quiz you can review the answers

Jumbled Words
Interactive Exercises
On-line you unscramble five words. Then using designated letters from the words you

In this 10 word exercise you need to unscramble not only the Spanish word
but also the English clue word to get a correct answer. For example to correctly
answer the jumbled "al cvaa - ocw" you would have to answer "la vaca -

Non-interactive exercise - You print out each exercise and using a
pen or pencil unscrambled the jumbled animal names. Then you used the circled

Hidden Words
This is a non-interactive exercise. You print out the exercise and using the word
list find each animal name. There are two versions of this exercise. In the
first the word list is in Spanish and the words hidden in the puzzle are in Spanish.
In the next version the word list is in English and the words hidden in the puzzle are in

Non-Interactive Exercise. You print out the exercise and using the word list find
each animal. With the left over letters you spell a hidden phrase. This is a long

Interactive exercise. In the first exercise you are searching for 10
hidden words in a puzzle. The clues are in Spanish and the words are in Spanish.

Matching Games
In the first exercise you click on matching cards. In the second exercise you
"drag" a word from the right column and match it against the correct translation
in the left column. In the third matching exercise you type in the correct letter
from the column on the right.

True Or False With Pictures
In this exercise you are shown a picture and a Spanish word. If the picture and the
word match you select the true button, otherwise select the false button. There are
