Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is located about 50 miles north of the Inca capital of Cuzco, which is located in modern day Peru.  It was re-discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911 after being hidden for almost 400 years.

There were many mysteries about Machu Picchu including who built it and why it was built.  Although archeologist have determined what they feel are the answers to those questions, many other questions still remain. 

Machu Picchu is a very popular tourist destination and many people consider it to be a mystical place.
