Fun Facts - The United States has a Navy base (Guantanamo Bay) in Cuba.
  - The flag was dates from 1849.  At that time a General living in New York City was planning a revolution to free Cuba from Spain.  The single star represents the freedom of Cuba.  It was officially adopted when Cuba did gain its freedom from Spain in 1902.  It is called "La Estrella Solitaria" - "The Lone Star"
